Part of Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series, Maker’s Mark Wood Finishing Series 2021 FAE-01 goes through an interesting finishing process; an American oak stave is seared on one side but left uncooked on the other side and then placed inside the Maker’s Mark barrels where the bourbon is finished. This results in a strong nutty aroma with whiffs of spicy oak to accompany it. On the palate, you also feel a stronger oak feel with a strong dark fruit flavor also making its presence known. The finish is balanced with enough smoothness, sweetness, and a touch of spice that lingers on.
